LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE TOYS!

MEET JESSIE…

Full Name: Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl

Occupation: Cowgirl toy

Talents: Expert yodeling, lasso and horse-riding skills

Year Made: 1957

Disney Behind The Scenes: Jessie the Yodeling CowgirlDescription: Jessie is a mega-rare cowgirl toy from the 1950s. She appeared in the wildly popular television show, Woody’s Roundup, as the sweet ‘n’ sassy sidekick to Sheriff Woody

Special Features: Hand-painted face on a durable vinyl head; red yarn hair slicked back into a cowgirl pony tail; embroidered cotton rodeo shirt with fringe detailing; leather belt with Roundup Ranch belt buckle; hand-stitched polyvinyl hat; leather cowboy boots; imitation cowhide chaps over denim jeans; pull-string voice control unit on back

Wear And Tear: There are little signs of wear and tear on Jessie, apart from the word ‘ANDY’ handwritten on the bottom of her left foot.

This cowgirl appears near perfect after a recent repair, clean and polish.

Fast Fact: Jessie’s favorite phrase is: “Yee-hah!” But she’s also been known to blurt: “Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln!”

Did You Know? Whenever Jessie is in trouble in Woody’s Roundup, she lets out a yodel and all of her critter chums come running to her rescue. This rough-and-tumble cowgirl has a special call for every creature in the wild west – from busy bobcats to eager beavers – and fans of the show can learn how to copy these calls with the help of a record released in 1957. The album is called Jessie’s Critter Call Yodels and it features hit tracks including Armadillo Pillow, Bear With Me and Bobcat At The Back Door

Current Owner: Andy Davis

Original Owner: Emily (Originally, Jessie was the favorite toy of a young girl named Emily. The cowgirl doll would be taken everywhere by her horse-loving owner, until Emily grew up and started to prefer pop music to ponies. Jessie was eventually given away to a charity store and was later discovered by a greedy toy collector called Al McWhiggin. She was kept in dark storage for years whilst awaiting delivery to a toy museum in Japan – but then Woody rescued her. Yee-hah!)

In A Nutshell: The roughest, toughest cowgirl of the wild, wild west!
