Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Guitar Gets First Coat as Muppets Take the Stage at Hollywood Studios
The transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is hitting its next major note at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as crews have begun priming the iconic guitar ahead of its Muppets makeover. The 40-foot-tall Fender Stratocaster out front is now sporting patches of silver primer, signaling that the next era of this attraction is tuning up fast.

After Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed permanently on March 1, construction walls and scaffolding quickly surrounded the entrance. In recent weeks, crews sanded down sections of the guitar, stripping away its classic glossy red finish. Now, with primer applied, the stage is set for a vibrant new design inspired by the Electric Mayhem, the house band of The Muppets.

While the guitar will keep its signature red base, it’s expected to get a splash of colorful, psychedelic details worthy of Dr. Teeth and the gang. Meanwhile, the upside-down ride vehicle at the end of the guitar strings has already received a fresh, more colorful look, hinting at the playful tone of the reimagined attraction.

An official opening date has not yet been announced, but the ride is expected to debut this summer, with late May floating as a possible timeframe. Until then, this repaint is just the opening riff in what promises to be a full-on Muppet jam session.
