Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 Review

Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4 Review

This past weekend we were invited to watch Toy Story 4 during a 2 day media event at Walt Disney World. Like several other Toy Story fans who grew up watching the movies, I was extremely skeptical about another addition to the franchise.  The addition of new character based off trash named “Forky” seemed like a stretch as well… I have never been disappointed by a Disney or Pixar film in the past but Toy Story 4 had a lot to live up to.

We begin our story with Buzz (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks)  and the gang in their new room at Bonnie’s. There is a new dynamic that Woody just isn’t too sure for these toys. Bonnie isn’t like Andy…

Fast forward to a new friend “Forky” featuring Tony Hale, a spork made from trash that just doesn’t want to be a toy! Woody takes over and helps Forky learn what it means to be “Bonnie’s toy.” He’s not a fork. He’s not a spoon. And most of all, Forky is not a toy! At least that’s what he thinks. Bonnie created him from an assortment of supplies Woody’s retrieved from the kindergarten trash can. So, it’s no wonder Forky feels strongly that he’s trash and not a toy.

As we have all seen from the new marketing and promos released for the film, Bo Peep voiced by Annie Potts is back and better than ever. She is rocking a new look and attitude. We learn that Bo has become a lost toy and find out just what she has gone through to make it on her own. Woody is torn with being loyal to Bonnie and his love for Bo… Cue the tissues!

Bringing in a little Canadian flair to the film, Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves, plays an action figure that helps the gang in a daring rescue. He is a little sensitive and absolutely a fun new character we love!

Huge laughs and lots of sarcasm is brought this time with Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, voicing Ducky and Bunny who Buzz accidentally liberates from a carnival game booth. They go on an adventure with the friends to rescue Forky and bring him back to Bonnie.

Toy Story 4 wasn’t needed but it was definitely loved. There were tears, lots of laughs, so much love, and best of all some great new life lessons that Disney and Pixar love to throw out there for you. Take the whole family to see this movie. Take the whole neighborhood to see this movie. But see this movie!

In theaters June 21st Toy Story 4 is going to be THE Pixar film of 2019!
