Disney Adds New Whimsical Touches to Magnolia Golf Course

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course Reopens with “Grumpy’s Gauntlet” – Are You Ready for the Challenge?

Golfers, get your clubs ready! Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course has officially reopened with all 18 holes available for play—and it’s looking better than ever. After the most extensive reimagination since its debut in 1971, the course now boasts reconstructed greens, updated teeing grounds, and a brand-new feature that’s as fun as it is challenging: Grumpy’s Gauntlet.

This new stretch of holes, spanning 14 through 17, brings strategy and precision to a whole new level. Designed to test golfers of all skill levels, Grumpy’s Gauntlet isn’t just about skill—it’s about survival! Each hole has been thoughtfully crafted to incorporate Disney magic, strategic play, and a few surprises along the way.

Grumpy’s Gauntlet: Where Skill Meets Disney Magic

🏌️ Hole 14 – “The Backside of Water” (Par 4, 344-506 yards)
Inspired by the iconic Jungle Cruise joke, this hole is a dogleg right with a tricky pot bunker daring you to cut the corner. But beware—missing long or left means you’ll find “the backside of water” in the nearby pond. Play smart, and as Walt Disney said, “Everyone falls down. Getting back up is how you learn to walk.”

🏌️ Hole 15 – “The Dinglehopper” (Par 5, 463-597 yards)
A nod to The Little Mermaid, this hole demands power and precision. A massive waste bunker hugs the right side, while hidden bunkers lurk on the left. As Arnold Palmer once said, “It’s a funny thing, the more I practice, the luckier I get.” You’ll need plenty of practice—and maybe a little luck—to escape unscathed!

🏌️ Hole 16 – “An Element of Fun” (Par 4, 310-456 yards)
Mary Poppins’ famous words, “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun,” perfectly describe this hole. A daunting dogleg left is flanked by water hazards and three well-placed bunkers. The undulating green ensures a challenge for even the steadiest of putters.

🏌️ Hole 17 – “The Big Green” (Par 3, 143-231 yards)
The final stage of Grumpy’s Gauntlet is no easy feat. Inspired by The Big Green, this long par 3 is surrounded by water hazards on both sides, leading to a treacherous green with severe undulations. Nail your shot here, and you might just walk away feeling like a champion.

Beyond the Gauntlet: A Reimagined Magnolia Golf Experience

The updates at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course don’t stop at Grumpy’s Gauntlet. The entire course has been transformed, with natural sandy waste areas replacing traditional rough, reducing water use while creating habitats for wildlife. Every hole now features new signage, whimsical names, and inspirational quotes from Walt Disney and Arnold Palmer.

Plus, a brand-new 18-hole putting course, “The Greatest Green Ever Played,” has been introduced, paying homage to The Greatest Game Ever Played. It’s the perfect spot to challenge your family and friends to a fun, relaxed round before grabbing a drink at Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Deli.

PGA Pros Weigh In on the New Magnolia

Even PGA Tour pros are impressed! 13-time PGA Tour winner Jason Day recently played the redesigned course and had nothing but praise: “The course looks phenomenal… overall, we had a lot of fun.”
