Disney has taken on a social networking site for kids 10 and under called Togetherville, as confirmed by spokeswomen from both Disney and Togetherville.
Togetherville has been set up so parents can monitor their childrens’ accounts- such as approving friends- while kids interact and “heart” their friends’ comments and even leave pre-approved status phrases. There are also entertainment, game and educational apps.
It is mostly for kids ages 6-10, but any child under 13 can join under their parent’s account.
It’s focus is on building “good digital citizens,” according to their website, because it is “built around real relationships between kids and their friends, parents and trusted adults. In Togetherville, your kids learn much more than computer skills: they explore how to be creative, express themselves and learn in a fun, interactive and ad-free way. We help them use technology to connect with the important people in their lives – safely and responsibly.”
This is just another acquisition in Disney’s recent purchases of online media- including gaming sites Playdom and Tapulous
