AAU youth baseball player beats cancer while playing in National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Thirteen-year-old Chris Siders of Pensacola, Fla., was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 11. After multiple failed rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and beating cancer three separate times, Siders was placed on the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s wish list. While his dream to meet former University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was granted, what he also wished for was to be back on the field with his AAU baseball team.
To help support Siders through his difficult time, his AAU baseball team shaved their heads when he lost his hair and carried around a cardboard photo of him to games and practices when he was too weak to make it.
Two years later, Siders has again defied the odds and he’s now an inspirational and active member of his AAU baseball team fighting for the AAU Baseball National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.
