Prior to a special performance of the Candlelight Processional at Epcot on December 5, Walt Disney World Resort president Meg Crofton surprised Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida with a gift of $30,000 to benefit the charity’s Kids Café.
With 13 sites across Central Florida, Second Harvest’s Kids Café is an after-school program that provides nutritious meals to children from low-income families in a safe, secure environment. Disney has been a long-standing supporter of Kids Café, which daily feeds an average of 910 local children.
Second Harvest of Central Florida executive director Dave Krepcho claims Disney’s donation will make a difference in lives of those who need it most.
“These funds will go a long way in making it possible to provide 160,000 meals this year,” says Krepcho. “Kids Café meals not only fill bellies, the food provides critical nutrition that would not otherwise be possible for children in need. We are so grateful to have Disney’s support and commitment to the healthy lifestyles of kids in our community.”
