As we all eagerly await updates on the development of Toy Story Land, and Star Wars Land, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios we cannot help but notice the changes that are already taking place. We reported earlier in September that the Streets of America are slowly disappearing as the building facades begin to come down. The difference a month can make during a refurbishment is intriguing.
In early September the building facades from one side of the Streets of America had disappeared completely. In late October we discovered that the New York City facade, to include the Empire State Building, have also disappeared. You can see the side-by-side comparison in the photos from September, and then October, above.
As you approach, or exit Muppets Courtyard, there was a large gray building facade that blocked the view to the Streets of America, as seen in the first picture above. Now, upon your approach to Muppets Courtyard, you can see clear through to the former Streets of America area as referenced above in the side-by-side photos of the same area.
In September the Writer’s Stop was still open for business and the construction walls were up just beyond the front steps. Now, this month, the Writer’s Stop is closed. We were told that it is also undergoing refurbishment and will likely become a bar. There is no official word from Disney regarding what will truly become of the Writer’s Stop. For now, it is behind construction walls and you cannot enter from the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater as you could in the past.
We are quite stunned by the many changes that can take place to an area in a month’s time. We will continue to watch this space as it undergoes its many changes. Stay tuned here for future refurbishment updates.
