Demolition Roars On at Former DINOSAUR Attraction in Animal Kingdom
The extinction event continues at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as new aerial photos from @bioreconstruct reveal ongoing demolition and interior gutting of the former Dinosaur. The once prehistoric pulse of DinoLand U.S.A. is being carefully dismantled as Disney prepares to transform the attraction into an Indiana Jones adventure as part of the sweeping Tropical Americas overhaul.

One of the most noticeable changes is the now empty pedestal where the Dino-Sue skeleton once stood. The towering fossil has been removed after being marked for demolition, and Disney has not publicly confirmed what the long term plans are for the figure. Social media chatter has speculated about preservation, but for now, the space where she once loomed stands bare.
Over in the courtyard, the transformation is unmistakable. The former extended queue area is being torn down, with debris piled near dumpsters as crews continue stripping away theming elements. Aerial shots show significant progress since the courtyard pools were first demolished. Inside the queue rubble, a familiar shape can be spotted among the debris. The Protostega sea turtle that once greeted guests is now seen in pieces, and it is also possible that the Archelon skeleton from above the gift shop has been removed during the gutting process.

Beyond the ride itself, nearby areas are also changing. The former Cretaceous Trail, where guests once met Chip, Dale, and Daisy, will become part of a new playground when Tropical Americas opens next year. The land will eventually feature an Encanto attraction, an Indiana Jones adventure taking over the DINOSAUR ride system, and a new carousel, all set within the vibrant village of Pueblo Esperanza.
For longtime fans, it is bittersweet to watch the last bones of DINOSAUR being cleared away. But if Indiana Jones sticks the landing, this reimagining could trade meteors for maps and fossils for fortune. Change may be inevitable, but at Animal Kingdom, the hope is that the storytelling evolution will be anything but extinct.
