Dave Prowse’s Daughter Shares His Cause of Death Was COVID-19

Dave Prowse’s Daughter Shares His Cause of Death Was COVID-19. Though we all know the iconic voice of Darth Vader as James Earl Jones the physical representation of the character was portrayed by Body Builder and Actor Dave Prowse. During the early hours of the morning Prowse’s agent shared the news of his passing, stating:

“It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and million of fans around the world, to announce that our client Dave Prowse MBE has passed away at the age of 85.”

Prowse’s daughter, Rachel further shared that her father passed away after a 2-week battle with COVID-19 and due to his diagnosis they were not allowed to be with him in his final weeks. He passed away alone in the hospital in London.

Rachel shared, “He loved his fans as much as they loved him. He might have looked quite scary but as a person he was a sweet, kind and generous man. He really was a gentle giant. And to us he was our dad,” she continued, “It’s horrible that Covid restrictions meant we did not get to see him and say goodbye. But when we went to collect his stuff from the hospital the nurse said what a cool guy he was. He was such a larger-than-life character. He would have loved to see himself trending on Twitter.”

In 2013, Dave Prowse shared with BBC how he came to be one of the most iconic villains in cinematic history sharing, “What happened actually is my agent rang me up and said there’s a gentleman in town called George Lucas who would very much like to see you,” he explained. “So, I went out to see him and meet up with him. He took me into a room and showed me all these conceptual drawings. He said, ‘I would like to offer you one of two parts in this movie I’m doing.’”

“The first one is a character called Chewbacca. I said, ‘What in the h*** is Chewbacca?’ He goes through the film on the side of the goodies, you see? I heard that and said, ‘Three months in a gorilla skin? No, thank you very much!’” he continued, “The other one is called Darth Vader. He’s the big villain of the film, you see? I said, don’t say anymore George, I’ll have the villain’s part. He said, ‘Tell me why?’ Think back on all the movies you’ve ever seen when there’s good guys and bad guys. You always remember the bad guy!”

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Dave Prowse 🕯
