Dates Announced For Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT in Disney California Adventure will be changing over to Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark again this fall! Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort can enjoy this version of the attraction starting September 1.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is a Halloween overlay for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT. It will be running from September 1 through October 31.
The Disneyland website describes the overlay as:
“Do you have what it takes to save Groot from crazed creatures on the loose?
Amid the chaos of the Guardians of the Galaxy’s rescue attempt, Groot got left behind. Even worse, the Collector’s Fortress is now mired in a total state of emergency—and overrun with menacing beasts.
Your objective? Team up with Rocket to return to the fortress, distract the monsters and escape with his buddy in tow—but proceed with caution. With the Guardians of the Galaxy involved, the plan is bound to run into a few unexpected ups and downs!”
This version of the ride is not available all day. It begins at 3 pm and runs until park closes.

Other Halloween fun coming to the Disneyland Resort includes:
- Don’t be surprised if you bump into Disney Characters—including Mickey and Minnie Mouse—all decked out for tricks and treats.
- “What’s this?” Why, it’s the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, here to transform a jolly holiday into a frightfully decorated occasion!
- Stitched together piece by piece courtesy of Dr. Finkelstein, Sally still has a mind all her own and feels completely whole with Jack by her side.
- Pumpkin King Jack Skellington has been busy decorating the Haunted Mansion with frightfully festive touches inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Experience thrilling sights and seasonal surprises created by the citizens of Halloween Town. Sally, Oogie Boogie and other beasties from the beloved film will be on hand to wish you “Season’s Screamings!”
- Halloween Screams: Your nocturnal delight kicks off with an eerie greeting from your “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington and his ghostly dog Zero—spirits from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. As Jack and Zero fade into the night leaving you to enjoy what’s to come, settle in and embrace the jump-worthy collision of sights and sounds—soaring flames, projections of rising ghosts and classic Disney villains like Maleficent and Ursula the Sea Witch—all set to a medley of Halloween-inspired songs… one showstopper after another. Finally, as you reach the grand finale, there’s no need to be shy. Feel free to sing—or scream―along! Plus, on select nights, you’ll also be able to watch sparkling fireworks possess the sky.
- On top of the gates, above the Disneyland entry turnstiles, see pumpkins shaped like favorite Disney characters—Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto—awaiting your arrival. Then, make your way into Disneyland Park for festival fun.
- Main Street, U.S.A. welcomes you this fall with a gourd-geous treat—incredible displays of unique carved pumpkins, including the giant Mickey pumpkin, that are frightfully delightful. Carve out some time to see it!
- Encounter some familiar grills as these race track regulars put it in park to greet their biggest fans. You can usually find either Lightning McQueen or Mater at the Cozy Cone Motel. Straight from the track and ready for some well-earned R&R, these best friends are glad to be hanging out in Radiator Springs—and excited to meet you!
