Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort Names Dan Herman New Executive Chef!
Congratulations Dan Herman! The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort has named Dan Herman the new Executive chef from his previous role of Executive Sous Chef! This is beyond exciting news for this resort that is perfectly located between Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and nearby Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Magic Kingdom. After recently completing a $150 million-dollar transformation, the largest in the resorts history, it’s no wonder why this resort wants to feature their world-class restaurants and lounges. In addition to the restaurants and lounges, the resort features sophisticated guest rooms, a luxurious Mandara Spa, five pools, two health clubs, complimentary transportation, extended park hours, and more!
Chef Herman has an extensive resume with over 23 years of Culinary experience after receiving his degree in Food Service Management from Radford University. Before joining the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin culinary team, Herman was Chef de Cuisine of Arthur’s 27 at Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa in Orlando.
Herman began his career at the Swan and Dolphin nearly 20 years ago, in 1999, and has played a vital role in the resort’s culinary success. Initially signing on as a restaurant Chef, he was quickly promoted to complex banquet chef where he was responsible for developing new menus for VIP groups and banquets for up to 400 guests.
Herman has developed multiple training and development programs, was instrumental in creating the resort’s Food & Wine Classic, has helped expand the food and beverage scene at the resort, and has overseen the openings of the critically acclaimed restaurants, II Mulino and Todd English’s Bluezoo. Among the honors Herman and his teams have received during his tenure include numerous recognitions from the National Association of Catering Executives, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, AAA, TripAdvisor, USA Today, Orlando Sentinel, and multiple opportunities to present at the James Beard House.
Now that Herman is the new Executive Chef, his new role includes overseeing all culinary operations of the resort’s 17 food and beverage outlets, banquets, and staff of over 200. Resort General Manager Fred Sawyers has stated, “Chef Herman’s dedication to his craft and the resort is unmatched. His talent and experience make him a unique asset to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort”. We couldn’t agree more! If you haven’t visited the Swan and Dolphin before now is the perfect time to watch this culinary master at work!
