To celebrate the incredible milestone of Walt Disney’s 125th birthday, D23 is launching a special event series titled “Walt Disney: 125 Years of Inspiration.” Getting the party started is a newly announced event, “A Toast to Walt’s Plane,” featuring none other than Disney Legend Bob Gurr! Fans can join this historic celebration on May 2nd to kick off a year of honoring Walt’s enduring legacy.

Taking place at the Palm Springs Air Museum on May 2nd, this exclusive event shines a spotlight on the stunning restoration of Mickey Mouse One, Walt’s legendary company plane. Guests will get an insider’s look at the newly refurbished interior and enjoy a special presentation featuring Disney Legend Bob Gurr. Whether you grab a panel-only or a VIP ticket, you’ll have the chance to explore rare archival items and snap a photo in front of the iconic aircraft’s exterior!

The VIP itinerary is packed with “first-ever” opportunities, starting with check-in at 4:15 p.m. PT. From 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. PT, VIPs will enjoy a private reception featuring tray-passed appetizers and refreshing non-alcoholic beverages. Most excitingly, this reception offers a rare, first-ever look inside the newly restored cabin, where you can snap a photo of the interior where Walt himself once traveled. During the mixer, guests can also stop by the Cotino table to chat with Cast Members and learn all about the new Storyliving by Disney community coming to life in the Coachella Valley.

It is important to note that access to the plane’s interior is a true “VIP exclusive”—it is only available to those with VIP tickets and is not included with general admission to the Palm Springs Air Museum.

• 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. PT: As general admission guests arrive, everyone can explore a curated display of archival items from Walt’s plane and grab those perfect exterior photos.

This final hour provides extra time to mingle, revisit the archival displays, and chat with the Cotino team about the newest Storyliving by Disney community.

For those looking to catch the main event without the full VIP reception, the Panel-Only Ticket is a fantastic way to experience this historic night. This ticket tier includes access to the signature presentation featuring the Walt Disney Archives and Disney Legend Bob Gurr, along with the expert team from the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Despite being “Panel-Only,” these guests still walk away with a treasure trove of keepsakes! • Who Can Attend: This event is open to guests ages 3 and up. Little ones under 3 are welcome to join for free but must lap-sit during the presentation.

• 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. PT: The main presentation takes flight! Hear incredible stories from the Archives, Bob Gurr, and the restoration team.
• 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. PT: Wrap up the evening with a serving of Walt’s favorite treat—Jell-O with whipped cream! This hour also offers a great chance to mingle, view the archival exhibits, and speak with the Cotino team about the latest from Storyliving by Disney.
