Crossroads shopping center near Disney World is now officially closed. A popular shopping center, originally built by Disney and had changed ownership many times over the years, is officially permanently closed for business. Crossroads Shopping. Crossroads of Lake Buena Vista will become a major contribution site over the next 5 years as the new owners. The State of Florida, build a new I-4 interchange. Back in January of this year, we reported on this.
The Crossroads was home to some popular restaurants, a pirate miniature golf course, and of course Gooding’s Supermarket, the anchor of the Crossroads for decades.
“The State of Florida has reached a $198 million agreement to acquire a popular shopping complex outside of Disney World. The Florida Department of Transportation’s plan is to build a new interchange for the Interstate 4 Beyond the Ultimate expansion project. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the location is at a shopping center known as the Crossroads of Lake Buena Vista.”

You can see in the above image that crews have already started tearing down all signs around the complex. The first signs to go were the Mcdonald’s and the Crossroads Center sign. Also, for reference, Disney World’s Entrance from 535 is right across the street.

“A lot of people are trying to get off at that same exit so it backs up and disturbs the mainline of I-4. So there will be improvements for that whole reconstruction of that interchange,” said Jessica Ottaviano, an FDOT spokesperson.
Not only a new interchange but there will also be flyover-type ramps that’ll give I-4 drivers direct access to both Disney Springs and the outlet mall.
FDOT says there are 75,000 cars that travel SR 5 every day, and 224,000 daily trips on that segment of I-4.
Buffalo Wild Wings is empty and deserted and time is taking its toll already on the inside of the patio.
