In order to better align with industry best practices, Walt Disney World Resort hotels will begin implementing a new credit card policy beginning on February 27, 2019. This policy will only affect those guests that wish to have a card on file throughout their stay. Beginning on February 27, 2019, incremental authorization holds will be applied to the card on file for estimated incidental expenses by the Disney Resort hotels. This will be in addition to any balance that is due on the reservation.
The policy currently only processes any balance that is due on the reservation. Those that leave a debit card on file may have to think twice about doing so going forward and use a credit card instead.
Guests wishing to opt out of this new policy may do so by not having a credit card put on file. These guests will not be able to charge to their rooms nor be able to make purchases with their MagicBand.
Disney will be advising guests of this new policy when guests go to check-in online through their My Disney Experience account or check-in in person at the front desk. Those that have already completed online check-in for stays starting on February 27, 2019 can expect to receive a letter notifying them about this policy change later this month.
