Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster

We’ve got new images of the progress on the Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster, coming to EPCOT.  The ride building is now completely enclosed in sky-blue walls.  It seems that Disney is trying to shroud the enormous building by having it blend in with the greenery below and the cloudy sky.  Leaving us to wonder what it will look like against a bight blue summer sky, or if there’s more to be added to the outside to help it blend in.

The front of the building is still covered by the Instagram-able #galaxywall.  However, the front of the structure that was once open steel beams has now been covered in black scrim to shield construction of the pre-show area of the ride.  White sheeting is also up along the front right side of the building concealing an exterior stairwell.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Coaster was officially announced at the 2017 D23 Expo.  Disney confirmed at the 2018 Expo that the ride is slated to open in 2021, as the worlds longest enclosed roller coaster.  Construction has been moving along steadily since spring of 2018 on the site of the former “Ellen’s Universe of Energy“, which shuttered in August of 2017.

Back in November, we were given a glimpse at the ride vehicles, based on the design of the ship “The Milano” in the Guardians films.  Billed as a “Storytelling Coaster“, each individual vehicle will move independently on the ride track, swiveling to direct your attention to specific areas of the ride.

I can’t wait for more details on this ride.  We’ll be keeping you posted with new updates along the way!
