Construction Continues to Progress at Disney's Riviera Resort

Just a short walk from Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, construction continues to progress at Disney’s Riviera Resort.  Guests staying in Martinique and Aruba have the best views of the construction. Slated for Fall 2019, the resort is on track to reach its deadline.

Once completed, Disney’s Riviera Resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club property. The inspiration for this resort stems from Walt Disney’s extensive travel along Europe’s Mediterranean coastline. Plans for the resort include a large rooftop restaurant and will have approximately 300 rooms.  Guests dining in the rooftop restaurant will have views of both nighttime shows at Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

Disney seems to be trending towards designing tower buildings instead of the large expansive resorts with many smaller buildings. This is also evident over at Disney’s Coronado Springs, where a new tower structure is being constructed. Much of the roof is completed now which means interior work will continue. The cranes have also been taken down with workers being able to move material around with smaller equipment.

To the left of the towers, construction continues on the Disney Skyliner gondola station. Once these are operating, they will transport guests to either Hollywood Studios or Epcot. Also planned are stops at four resorts – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort.  For now, all we know is that the Gondolas will be running in Fall 2019.

As construction continues to progress on Disney’s Riviera Resort and the Skyliner gondolas, I would imagine Disney will have everything running in time to take advantage of the busy Fall season. What are you most excited about? A brand-new resort, the gondolas, or both?
