The magic of Disney and the spirit of community came together on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as thousands of walkers filled the parks of the Disneyland Resort for the annual CHOC Walk in the Park. This beloved event, which has become a cornerstone of charitable giving in Southern California, saw participants walk a 5k route through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park before the general public arrived, all to support the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).

This year’s walk is led by the inspiring 2025 CHOC Walk Ambassador, Belle Wuich, a cancer survivor whose journey with CHOC has come full circle. She leads the charge and celebrates hope, resilience, and the power of community.

The CHOC Walk is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of hope, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to children’s health. This year, the event continued its legacy, adding to a staggering $46 million that has been raised for CHOC since the first walk.

The history of the CHOC Walk and its deep connection to the Disneyland Resort is a story of shared vision and partnership. The relationship dates back to the very beginning of the hospital, with Walt Disney himself serving on CHOC’s founding board in the 1960s. This enduring bond was cemented with the first “CHOC/Disneyland Community Walk” in 1990. While the initial route was through city streets, the event found its permanent and most magical home in 2002 when it was reimagined as “CHOC Walk in the Park,” offering participants the unique opportunity to stroll through the iconic theme park.

Community Walks Together at Disneyland, Raising Millions for CHOC Kids

The funds raised from the CHOC Walk have a direct and immediate impact on the lives of countless children. These donations support a wide range of programs, including groundbreaking research, vital patient care, and crucial educational initiatives at CHOC’s facilities. This support helps ensure that every child receives the care they need, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

As the sun rose over the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle and the huge hot air balloon decorated for Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, walkers of all ages—including former patients, their families, hospital staff, and dedicated community members—laced up their shoes and walked with a shared purpose. The event serves as a powerful reminder of the collective impact that a community can have when it comes together for a common cause.
