Disney has a language all it’s own. If you have a fan of Chip and Co long then you will hear us speak in many Disney Abbreviations and Acronyms just like you would a 2nd language. We get asked all the time what many of these mean so here are a few of our favorites. For the most complete list All Ears has just about everyone that I am familiar with.
WDW – Okay, sure. It’s obvious. Walt Disney World.
MK – Magic Kingdom. You’ll see this everywhere.
CRT – Cinderella’s Royal Table. The hardest reservation to get at WDW, it’s located in Cinderella Castle (and yes, there’s no apostrophe s in that one).
BBB – Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Where you get your princess makeover and your fancy new ballgown.
BWV – Boardwalk Villas
BW – For Disney’s Boardwalk which is a great place to hang out!
MCO – Orlando International Airport. If you’re a Disney fan, it’s your first little taste of Disney World.
ME – Magical Express or DME – Disney Magical Express. This is the bus you take to and from the Airport.
TTC – Ticket and Transportation Center. You know that place next to the MK parking lot where you get your tickets, get on the monorail or ferry to go to the MK, or transfer by monorail to Epcot? This is the place.
ADR – Advanced Dining Reservation. This is one of those acronyms that we KNOW Disney knows, but they don’t personally use it. So if you’re calling Disney Dining and you use the term, don’t be surprised if they don’t know what it means. Except (wink, wink) they do.
DHS – Disney Hollywood Studios.
DAK – Disney Animal Kingdom or AK if you really want to go even shorter.
AKL – Animal Kingdom Lodge. Let’s face it. That’s a long name. You’ve got to shorten it.
POFQ – Port Orleans French Quarter
CM – Cast Member. What Disney calls their employees.
GAC – Guest Assistance Card. Come in very handy for those that need them.
MYW – Magic Your Way. Refers to package and ticket types. One of the few Disney fan acronyms that’s actually an official Disney one as well.
PH – Park Hopper [ticket add-on to Magic Your Way tickets]
GF – Grand Floridian, Disney’s flagship resort.
Poly – Shortened form for Disney’s Polynesian Resort
WP – Wedding Pavilion.
DtD – Downtown Disney some people just use DD. But that can be confused with Disney Daughter.
EoS – Earl of Sandwich. The Notoriously crowded, deliciously wonderful sandwich shop in Downtown Disney.
V&A – Pricey, four-star restaurant in the GF.
FW – Ft. Wilderness.
DWL – Disney Wilderness Lodge
OKW – Disney’s Old Key West Vacation Club Resort
AoA – Disney’s all new Art of Animation Resort.
BTMRR – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
TSMM – Toy Story Midway Mania. The name is almost as long as the wait for this ride, but we love it anyway.
RnRC – Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
SSE – Spaceship Earth
MNSSHP – Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
MVMCP – Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
AP – Annual Pass. The height of Disney World geekdom is an annual passholder.
TiW – Tables in Wonderland (was Disney Dining Experience)
HDDR – Hoop Dee Doo Review. The kind of dinner show that Disney employees (excuse me, CMs) go to on their day off. You should check it out.
F&W – Food and Wine. Refers to the yearly Food and Wine festival that takes place in Epcot every October.
ASMo, ASSports, and ASMu – All Star Movies, Sports, and Music. And yes, we all snicker about that one too.
It is not an exact science but you get the idea. If you hang around here for long you will pick up many of them. For more check out this article Disneyspeak: Do You Speak Disney’s Language? What are some of your favorites? Let us know in the comment box below.
