Disney’s first openly gay character will debut in the movie Jungle Cruise next October.
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will star in the upcoming film based on the Disneyland attraction. Jack Whitehall will be joining them as the brother of Blunt’s character, who according to PinkNews is
“hugely effete, very camp and very funny” and “makes clear he has no interest in women.”
Whitehall said: “I’m so honoured to be part of this epic adventure[…] It’s so cool to be part of something of this scale and also as possibly one of the biggest Disney nerds on the planet so exciting to be working on a project with this much history.”
Jungle Cruise is set to hit theaters on October 11, 2019, and notably the first live-action Disney film with an openly gay character. The movie is currently in the filming stages and there is hope for the film to have success similar to that of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
