A Grown-Up Miguel and a Spiteful Revenge Story
Picking up several years after the events of the original 2017 blockbuster, Coco 2 introduces us to a teenage Miguel who has continued to embrace his family’s musical heritage. However, trouble is brewing in the afterlife.
Benjamin Bratt is officially returning as the smooth-talking villain Ernesto de la Cruz. After having his fraudulent legacy exposed in the first film, Ernesto is back with a vengeance—targeting the very boy who ruined his afterlife. Thankfully, Miguel won’t have to face him alone; the fan-favorite trickster Héctor is also confirmed to return!

The Creative Dream Team Assembles
First announced in March 2025, the sequel reunites the creative powerhouses behind the original masterpiece:
- Directing & Writing: Lee Unkrich returns to direct alongside co-writer Adrian Molina.
- Original Soundtrack: The Oscar-winning songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (Remember Me) are crafting an all-new score.
- Legacy: The original film smashed box office records with $823 million worldwide and took home two Academy Awards.

The film isn’t the only treat waiting for fans. Disney is currently constructing an immersive new Coco-themed attraction at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, which is scheduled to open its doors to guests next year.
