Universal recently filed permits for the closure of the high-speed music-themed coaster, and a posting on X (formerly Twitter) confirms that the ride will permanently close in late September 2025.

This timeline appears strategic, likely allowing the construction of a replacement attraction to span fiscal years. Comcast, Universal’s parent company, operates on a January 1–December 31 fiscal year, making this late-year closure an ideal point to transition budgets while kickstarting development.

While Universal has not officially announced what will replace Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, speculation is already buzzing among fans. The growing consensus suggests the new ride may be a cutting-edge multi-launch coaster by Intamin, the same manufacturer behind the Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Islands of Adventure and the highly anticipated Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster coming to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2026.

The Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster is being touted as a revolutionary experience. It will feature a state-of-the-art ride system with individual ride vehicles capable of 360-degree rotation, simulating the sensation of high-speed drifting as guests rocket through a track designed with immersive sound-reduction technology. Could a similar attraction be heading to Universal Studios Florida?

If so, the arrival of a Fast & Furious-themed coaster could signal the end of the much-maligned Fast & Furious: Supercharged attraction.
