Pink Nearly Gone From Cinderella Castle as Magic Kingdom Restores Original Colors

Cinderella Castle is looking a little less rosy these days. The final traces of the pink paint added for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration are quickly disappearing as crews continue restoring the Magic Kingdom icon to its more traditional color scheme.

During a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, only a handful of pink sections remained visible on the castle. Most of the pastel rose tones that once covered the towers and upper walls have now been repainted in soft gray, returning the structure closer to the classic look guests remember from before the anniversary makeover. Crews were seen working high above the hub in lift vehicles, focusing on the tallest central tower and areas surrounding the castle clock.

A few stubborn patches of pink can still be spotted near the top of the castle and around the upper tower walls. This includes the area where Tinker Bell begins her nightly flight during the Happily Ever After fireworks spectacular. Some sections around the balcony and the back side of the castle also still show pink paint for now, but those areas are expected to be repainted soon as work continues.

The gold accents added during the 50th anniversary transformation are also being toned down as part of the restoration. In several places, the decorative trim and gargoyle details are being repainted in light gray to match the castle’s returning color palette. In some spots, guests can see the transition happening in real time with one side already gray while the other side still shines in gold.

The repainting project also includes refreshing other elements of the castle, including portions of the lower structure and the royal blue rooftops that crown the iconic towers. As the work wraps up, Cinderella Castle will once again reflect the more traditional color scheme guests remember from years past.

For fans who loved the bold anniversary look, the pink castle may soon be just a memory. But for those who prefer the classic fairytale palette, the Magic Kingdom’s centerpiece is nearly back to its original storybook style.
