Chip & Company Week in Review, June 13, 2011

Welcome back to another edition of the Chip & Company Week in Review!  I hope you have had a great week, but if you have missed some of your Disney news stories, feel free to take a look at these!

  • For you ElecTRONica fans out there, great news!  The grid will remain open at Disney’s California Adventure until Spring, 2012!  So go test your skills!
  • Did you see the premier of ‘My Yard Goes Disney!’?  If not, here is a sneak peak into what you’ll see in episode two, so check it out and tune in tonight at 8PM ET/7PM CT for the complete episode!
  • Did you see the review of the iPad game “THE INCREDIBLE MACHINE”?  This game is a problem solver game, and for the iPad it is only $2.99, so check it out and see if it is something you should add to your collection!
  • Are you a Beauty and the Beast fan?  If so, you will love that the Classic Disney Movie will be released on Blu-Ray on October 4th!
  • Can you believe that the Rocketeer is approaching 20 years old?!  Check out our post about the celebration that D23 is planning for it!
  • Did you hear about Victoria & Alberts being awarded the AAA Five Diamond Award?  Congratulations!
  • Disney’s Primeval Whirl ride over at Animal Kingdom is still closed, and last week, we learned that it will remain closed until at least September 14th.  That’s a shame, but the important thing is that the accident investigation can continue, and that the ride is safe for all.
  • Disney does such a great job in raising funds for worthy causes, and the Florida United Way was the benefactor of more than $185,000 from the Disney chefs (and other Florida chefs)!
  • My daughter loved Mo Willems books when she was younger, so when I heard that Disney was going to publish “The Duckling Gets a Cookie!?”, I immediately lit up in anticipation!
  • Finally, in a sad note, Disney is preparing for a layoff.  I hope that the employees are able to find other jobs soon.

Of course, not all of our writing is news information.  We have a ton of great Disney views to share with you, so here are three of them to whet your whistle!

  • First up, Jessica writes to us about Don Hahn’s book, “Brain Storm: Unleashing Your Creative Self”.  Jessica is a Communications major, so this book sounds right up her alley!  Check it out.
  • One of our new writers, Kelly, brings to us her thoughts on the “Walt Disney World Dining Bests”.  If you missed it, check it out, because there are some good tips and great shots to look at!
  • Chip is always approaching us with questions that we have received on the website.  Melissa wrote her answer for “Late Summer or early fall – which hotel is right for us?”  If you ever need a question answered, feel free to leave us your question, and we’ll get back to you with the answer!

As always, have a wonderful week, and remember – if you are not at the parks to get your Disney fix, fill that craving here at Chip & Company!
