Chef José Andrés of Jaleo - Nominated for  2019 Nobel Peace Prize

Chef José Andrés of Jaleo – Nominated for  2019 Nobel Peace Prize – an amazing honor for a celebrated chef, who is passionate about giving back in a big way. Support is provided by his non-profit organization, World Central Kitchen

In 2010 Andrés founded the charitable organization, World Central Kitchen. Andrés, Spanish-born chef, restaurateur, author, and philanthropist founded the organization to bring hot meals to disaster zones and areas hit by tragedy.

After Hurricane Maria brought devastation to Puerto Rico, Andrés, the World Central Kitchen fed more than three million people.  The organization brought comfort in the form of food to victims of other natural disasters in Texas, the Carolinas and most recently, victims of California wildfires.

In November Andrés enlisted the assistance of other celebrity chefs, Guy Fieri and Tyler Florence to feed 15K survivors of the infamous California Camp Fire a memorable Thanksgiving supper.

Representative John Delaney of Maryland nominated Andrés for the humanitarian award, according to the Washington Post; “Because of Mr. Andrés’s work, millions of people have been fed. This is the most basic human need and Mr. Andrés has proven to be world-class in this essential humanitarian field. With an incredible spirit and an innovative mind, Mr. Andrés is solving one of the world’s ancient problems and supplying world leaders with a new roadmap to provide more effective disaster relief in the future.”

Andrés has demonstrated his compassion for his fellow human in need. Previously he was recognized by the James Beard Foundation and was awarded its Humanitarian of the Year award.

Of Note, visitors to Disney Springs will soon be able to sample creations by Chef José Andrés.  Jaleo, a signature fine dining restaurant, by José Andrés will soon open at Disney Springs. No set opening date is yet known. Menu offerings will feature the rich flavors of Spain. Authentic tapas, paella, and sangria punctuate the vibrant culture and ambiance to be felt at this anticipated dining location.
