Roaming Disney Characters Will Continue in Animation Courtyard After The Magic of Disney Animation Opens
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will keep a little extra character magic in Animation Courtyard even after The Magic of Disney Animation officially opens on September 14. Disney has confirmed that roaming character encounters will continue in the courtyard, giving guests the chance to spot some familiar faces outside of the attraction’s scheduled meet-and-greets.

Several of the characters who have been roaming Animation Courtyard throughout the summer will move indoors to the new Off the Page experience, but that does not mean the courtyard itself is losing its surprise encounters. Additional characters are expected to continue appearing outside, and Disney has indicated there may also be other roaming characters inside The Magic of Disney Animation.
These encounters could include some less common Disney characters as well. During a recent media preview, Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the Cheshire Cat were among the characters appearing in the area, although Disney has not guaranteed that specific lineup for regular operations. The roaming character presence could also become more prominent during seasonal events such as Cool Kids Summer.

Inside Off the Page, guests will have dedicated opportunities to meet Mulan, Rapunzel, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Stitch in spaces themed to different stages of the animation process. The Magic of Disney Animation will also feature Olaf Draws!, the Drawn to Wonderland playground, and the Disney Once Upon a Studio Theater.
