Changes to the ‘Disney Look’ for Cast Members

Changes to the 'Disney Look' for Cast Members

The Disney Look is a classic look that is clean, natural, polished and professional, and avoids “cutting edge” trends or extreme styles. It is designed with our costumed and non-costumed cast members in mind.

However Disney is creating a place where everyone is welcome and taking action to create meaningful change.

Disney’s goal is also to have more representation and accountability across their organization, starting with the leadership team and extending throughout their business worldwide, through tools and mentorship, and learning programs that create awareness and foster leadership accountability.

Disney is looking at other traditions, too – including the policies that guide how cast members show up for work. Disney’s new approach provides greater flexibility with respect to forms of personal expression surrounding gender-inclusive hairstyles, jewelry, nail styles, and costume choices; and allowing appropriate visible tattoos. Disney is updating them to not only remain relevant in today’s workplace, but also enable their cast members to better express their cultures and individuality at work.

Disney President Josh D’Amaro had this to say about the changes for Cast Members

Moving forward, we believe our cast, who are at the center of the magic that lives in all our experiences, can provide the best of Disney’s legendary guest service when they have more options for personal expression – creating richer, more personal and more engaging experiences with our guests.

This is just the beginning as we continue to work toward a world where we all belong – including a more diverse and inclusive Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. There’s more to do, but we’re committed to listening, learning and making meaningful improvements.

  1. This is a very sad time for Disney and the rest of the liberal corporations. Walt would never have changed the clean, natural looks that kept Disney special. Families felt comfortable coming to Disney Parks. You were unique, special, now you just blend in with other theme parks only 3 – 4 times more expensive! As a former cast member and former premium pass holder I can now save my money for better things than spending it on Disney Parks and stores.
