“The Zoo has come a long way since opening our gates on July 4, 1975,” said CEO Richard E. Glover, Jr. “This remarkable journey was made possible with the help of passionate citizens, Seminole County’s generous donation of a low-cost, long-term lease of 106 acres, and the visionary leadership from the Zoo’s first director, Jack Hanna. This kickoff celebration is our way of saying thank you to the community that has supported us every step of the way.”
