Nathan Fillion will be returning to the world of cop dramas with his starring role in ABC’s new series, The Rookie.
In addition to being the executive producer, Fillion will play the lead role of John Nolan, a rookie cop with the LAPD. Fillion’s role is base on a true story of a new cop that is 20 years older than most of the other rookies in the department. John Nolan is from a small town and ditched everything he knew to move to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of joining the police department. Once in LA, Entertainment Weekly says (Nolan), “Finds himself navigating the unpredictable, dangerous, and occasionally humorous world of a ‘young cop.'”
Previously, Fillion payed the starring role of Richard Castle on the hit ABC series Castle. Castle enjoyed an eight season run on ABC prior to being cancelled in 2016. Among other acting roles, Fillion is also know for voicing “Sterling” in this summer’s Pixar hit, Cars 3.
A premiere date for the new series is yet to be released.
