Casting Call Reveals Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds Plays a Bigger Role in ‘Spider-Man 3’. Best friend of Peter Parker and secret identity keeper of Spider-Man Ned Leeds is expected to play a larger role in the next Spider-Man film. Though we saw Ned play out his own subplot in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but it seems we will get to learn more about Ned and even get an appearance by his relatives in the next film!
A new casting call shows that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are in search of “a Filipina actress within the age range of 50-80 years old for a small supporting role”, at least according to sources of The Direct. Though the casting call does not specifically state what the role will be for, the fact that Jacob Battalion himself is half-Filipino is a heavy indicator that the new character will likely be the mother, grandmother, or aunt of Ned in the new film.
Now in a twist you might not have seen coming… it’s also heavily rumored that Ned Leeds will take a turn in the coming film that leads him down the path to become Spider-Man’s nemesis, Hobgoblin.
Fans of the comics will not find this shocking in the slightest, as it is well established that Ned Leeds is Hobgoblin in the comics, but other than the character name, not much has led us to believe Ned will take a dark path, but we never know what twists and turns may be on the horizon.
