Since James Gunn has been dropped from director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by Disney and Marvel, fans and celebrities have started voicing their support of Gunn. An online petition was started last week to rehire James Gunn, which has over 336,000 signatures, and some of the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, such as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista, also tweeted their support. Now, the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 stand in support of James Gunn. See the Instagram post below from Christ Pratt’s account calling for his reinstatement.
James Gunn has since deleted his Twitter account, but before he did he tweeted, “Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo. As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.”
Gunn has been working on the script for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, and the movie was expected to begin shooting in Atlanta in the fall for an expected 2020 release date, though Marvel Studios had never officially announced the date.
