“Captain Marvel” became Marvel Cinematic Studios’ 10th highest domestic earning film this past weekend! It is expected to climb even higher on this list in the next several weeks.
After just three weekends, the latest film has passed the $900 million mark in the worldwide box office with $321.5 million in the U.S alone.
Marvel’s 21st film is expected to overtake “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” as numbers climb in the box office. If so, this will place the movie at the eighth highest earning Marvel film in the United States.
“Captain Marvel” is also the tenth highest earning superhero film in the world. The international box office sales have a current total of almost $6 million. This puts the film ahead of “Spider-Man 3”, “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”, and “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2” in total overseas sales.
Additionally, “Captain Marvel” is sure to surpass the $1 billion mark this weekend. The movie will become the seventh MCU film to ever reach that milestone.
