Candlelight Processional could return to Disneyland this Holiday season

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland’s Candlelight Processional will be returning this holiday season!

Yesterday, September 28, Disneyland filed a permit with the city of Anaheim for the installation of the Candlelight Processional at the Main Street U.S.A. train station. The permit calls for the installation of outdoor steel platforms, audio and show lighting towers and movable folding viewing seats.

The Candlelight Processional features dozens of choir groups who gather on a stage in front of Disneyland’s Main Street Train Station to bring the story of Christmas to life. The annual event is attended by hundreds of guests who fill a seating area in Disneyland’s Town Square.

Typically, the 600-member candlelight choir parades down Main Street U.S.A. on two weekend nights in early December for two performances each night in Disneyland’s Town Square. The crowded and busy special event tends to jam foot traffic near the main entrance to the park. Backstage passageways behind the Main Street U.S.A. shops are usually opened during the performances to ease congestion in the high-traffic area.

The choir performs along with a live orchestra, handbell players and fanfare trumpeters. There is also a celebrity narrator that tells the story of the first Christmas between songs. The narrator is kept a secret until the first show.

The Disneyland Candlelight Processional’s reserved seating is limited and only open to a few hundred invited guests that include community members, civic leaders, media representatives and VIPs. There is also a limited standing-room-only area for guests visiting the park the same day as the show.

Disneyland has not made any official announcement regarding the Candlelight Processional so stay tuned for more information!
