Disney Unveils Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Map for California Adventure

Disney California Adventure officially hit the 25-year milestone on February 8! To celebrate, the park offered commemorative maps featuring a nostalgic look at opening-day attractions and classic retro logos.

The cover of this Special Edition Guidemap serves up a major dose of nostalgia, showcasing the park’s original entrance plaza. It features the iconic oversized CALIFORNIA letters, the Golden Gate Bridge monorail trestle, and the classic mosaic mountain range. While the physical letters were donated in 2012 to the Friends of the California State Fair in Sacramento, they make a grand “return” here to celebrate the park’s 25-year legacy.

The reverse side of the map features a nostalgic collage of retro logos, paying tribute to the park’s 2001 lineup. It honors fan-favorite originals like California Screamin’ and the Sun Wheel, alongside forgotten gems such as Mulholland Madness and Condor Flats. The display even includes a “rest in peace” nod to retired classics like the Maliboomer and the whimsical Flik’s Fun Fair.

Inside, the map transports you back to Opening Day—February 8, 2001. You can explore the park’s original layout, featuring “lost” locations like A Bug’s Land (now the site of Avengers Campus) and the notoriously quirky Superstar Limo in Hollywood Land.

For those looking to bridge the past and present, a special key highlights the opening-day attractions still in operation. Most notably, the legendary Soarin’ Over California has returned to its original form, with its classic overlay scheduled to run through July 1, 2026. While several other 2001-era attractions remain, many have since evolved through creative retheming.

The commemorative guide concludes with a heartfelt “Thank you for celebrating 25 years with us today!” and provides a roadmap to the exclusive anniversary merchandise and treats. The map is tied together with vibrant artwork of Mickey and Minnie Mouse debuting their sparkling 25th Anniversary attire.
