Build Your Own Lightsaber, Droids And More At Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Some of the interactive experiences we can look forward to at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens this month are out of this world! When visiting Galaxy’s Edge you can Build Your Own Lightsaber, or Droids! Plus there are many other exciting things like bringing home your own alien pet, or discovering ancient holocrons.

Guests visiting Savi’s Workshop can create their very own hand built lightsabers. At Black Spire Outpost, a group known as the “Gatherers” usher guests into a covert workshop packed with unusual parts, whimsical pieces and miscellaneous memorabilia collected from the far reaches of the galaxy. With the guidance of the “Gatherers”, you will be able to construct your very own lightsaber and bring it to life through the power of kyber crystals.

Guests will have four different hilt themes to choose from, each one with a different meaning. In addition to the lightsaber, guests will also receive a cloisonné pin to commemorate their selection.

Themes for the Build Your Own Lightsaber experience include:

  • Peace and Justice – Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
  • Power and Control – Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith homeworld and abandoned temples.
  • Elemental Nature – This theme embodies the Force—an energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth.
  • Protection and Defense – Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force.

After selecting your hilt the Gatherers will help you select the heart of your lightsaber, the kyber crystal. These are available in red, blue, green or violet. Once you begin assembling your hilt, parts will be provided based on your theme and cloisonné pin.

Each box of parts includes:

  • 1 hilt
  • 4 sleeves (pick 2)
  • 2 emitters (pick 1)
  • 2 pommel caps (pick 1)
  • 2 sets of activation plates and switches (pick 1 set)

Upon hilt completion, the unused parts will be collected by the Gatherers and returned to Savi’s inventory. These are not included with your lightsaber package.

Finally, the Gatherers will masterfully connect your hilt to a 36” lightsaber blade so you’re ready for anything the galaxy puts in your path!

  1. I feel like if I say yes (Which is very likely) Ill have a house full of droids. My daughter already has one and adores hers. The light saber is a awesome idea. This was a incredible idea that people will definitely enjoy.

  2. I cannot wait to do this. I want to build my own droid. My son will do the Lightsaber! #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  3. These are amazing! As much as I love Star Wars, I wouldn’t want to pay that much (though I get why it’s so expensive). I can honestly say that these are the droids I’m looking for. #DisneyVacayGiveaway

  4. This is so cool! I always wanted my own lightsaber & this one is custom-built the way you want it! I just wish it wasn’t $199 to build one! 🙁 The droid is much more affordable. If I built a droid, i’d totally build the BB-series! #DisneyVacayGiveaway
