Bryce Dallas Howard to Direct Disney+ ‘Flight of the Navigator’ Reboot. Jurassic World Star and The Mandalorian director Bryce Dallas Howard has signed on to direct the new Flight of the Navigator reboot coming to Disney+. Howard will also act as a producer on the film alongside Justin Springer and Nine Muses production partner John Swartz.
Variety shared, “Bryce Dallas Howard is set to direct and produce Walt Disney Studios’ reboot of “Flight of the Navigator,” which reimagines the original 1986 film with a female lead. The new movie, which marks Howard’s feature directorial debut, is slated to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus.”
The original 1978 Disney adventure Flight of the Navigator tells the story of 12-year-old David (Joey Cramer) who lives with his family in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. When he awakens from being accidentally knocked out in the forest near his home, he finds that eight years have passed. His family is overjoyed to have him back, but just as perplexed as he is by the fact that he hasn’t aged. When a NASA scientist (Howard Hesseman) discovers a UFO nearby, David gets the chance to unravel the mystery and recover the life he lost.
