Indiana Jones Adventure Bridge Effects Finally Reinstalled

Hold onto your fedoras—the legendary collapsing bridge effect is finally back at Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye! After being inactive or broken for several years, this fan-favorite thrill has been fully restored, bringing the heart-pounding tension of the chasm crossing back to Disneyland Park.

When the Indiana Jones Adventure is in peak form, ride vehicles pause precariously in the center of the rope bridge right before the massive head of Mara. To simulate the bridge collapsing, the vehicle’s internal hydraulics tilt and shake the transport while the side ropes “drop” to create a terrifying sense of falling.

While the bridge structure itself stays stationary, this clever mix of motion and practical effects had been missing for years, with the ropes remaining static. Now that the dropping effect has returned, guests can once again experience the heart-pounding sensation of the temple crumbling beneath them!

The ropes are officially moving again! As your transport bounces and sways, the restored effect perfectly mimics the terrifying sensation that the bridge is about to give way.

Indiana Jones Adventure is a technical marvel that requires constant care, often closing for maintenance to tune its complex machinery. While some original effects have been retired in favor of modern projections, Disney continues to invest in the ride’s legacy. A major 2023 refurbishment successfully revived several classic stunts and even introduced an entirely new scene, proving that the Temple of the Forbidden Eye still has plenty of secrets left to reveal!
