A small fire was reported last night outside Cinderella Castle in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Initial reports indicated that the fire started inside the kitchen at Cinderella’s Royal Table. However, after further investigation, the fire appears to have started by embers from one of the last nightly performances of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.
Guests and cast members were evacuated from the Castle as a precaution. Witnesses reported a pontoon boat from Reedy Creek Fire Department in the moat around the castle and firefighters focusing on the area where the Wishing Well stands. Once the “all clear” was given, guests and cast members were permitted back inside the castle. Some witnesses indicated that a electrical fire smell was still present a few hours after the reported fire. No injuries were reported.
Wishes last performance is scheduled for tonight while the new Nighttime Spectacular, Happily Ever After, begins tomorrow night.
