Disney has been producing some great live action adventure sagas lately, with the recent continuation of “Star Wars,” the Marvel universe franchise, and even a continuation of the Pirates of the Caribbean story. Today, Disney officially announced the continuation of another beloved live-action adventure saga: Indiana Jones!
With no official plans for another film being released following “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, the official announcement of a 5th Indiana Jones movie was a wonderful surprise. The film will have Steven Spielberg as director, who also directed the four previous films, as well as returning producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Harrison Ford, of course, will return to play the iconic role of Indiana Jones. The film is set to be released July 19, 2019. No other particular cast members have been officially announced yet.
The Indiana Jones films are some of the most iconic films in cinematic history, with all four films bringing in nearly $2 billion. Beloved by millions of people worldwide, and even inspiring many Indiana-Jones themed attractions at Disney parks throughout the world, this film is sure to be another classic. Alan Horn, Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, put it perfectly, “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
The film is sure to be another epic adventure, and I am extremely excited to find out who else might be part of the cast.
