Should you Book your Disney Vacation now or later?

calm

Now that you have all of the information about your Disney World Resort, dining, and tickets you may be wondering – “should I book now or later“?

Here are some things to consider:

No rush, I have time…Disney is the most popular family travel destination on the planet.  Certainly, some resorts are more sought after than others.  Are you concerned that your room might sell out?  It is a real possibility.  Solution?  Make that $200 deposit and you will be sure to have that coveted room, even at the busiest times of the year.  Even if Free Dining pops up!

What if my plans change…Disney has a very liberal cancellation policy.  In the event that some catastrophe keeps you from going to Disney at your planned time (and let’s face it – to cancel your Disney trip is truly a catastrophe of monumental proportions!)  Don’t worry – you will get a full refund as long as it’s more than 45 days before your travel date.  So, go ahead, make that deposit and secure your room – what is there to lose?

But, it still feels like this vacation is very expensive…even though Disney is the best deal going when you compare it to the cost of other vacations, I agree – vacations are pricey.  Here is the great news:  you can treat a Disney vacation like it’s on layaway!  Pay a little bit each month (your travel agent can work out a payment schedule with you or keep no schedule at all – it can be whenever you’ve got the dough!), and before you know it- your vacation is paid off!  Imagine coming home from a vacation and NOT dreading your next credit card bill – it’s a wonderful thing!

So, good for you for thinking ahead and planning your vacation ahead of time!  Today is the perfect day to make that deposit- secure your favorite room, have your plans set in case a promotion pops up that your travel agent can apply, and pay as you go.  All that’s left to do is enjoy your magical trip!

You’ve done all of the hard work and organizing already.   Don’t let it go to waste by waiting too long to book.  Just some friendly tips, I don’t want you to miss out on that spectacular room at your favorite resort just because you thought that you had plenty of time left!

  1. Christina,
Disney does such a great job making dreams really possible! The $200 deposit is the best deal in all of travel in my opinion. Go ahead and grab that room, your travel agent can apply the discounts later for you!

  2. Great tips! Never knew about the $200 deposit, I usually try my best to guide my bookings during sales and such so that would be great to do for future trips!
