Boba Fett Movie is Officially Dead

Sorry, Boba Fett fans, but the word is official.  Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, Ltd. has confirmed the Boba Fett movie is dead.  Not a lot of information had been released beyond a director, but the project is now dead.  Kennedy told journalist Erick Weber that Lucasfilm, Ltd. will be focusing their attention on Disney’s new streaming service.  After Solo’s poorer than expected performance at the box office, Disney made the decision to slow down on Star Wars films.  Their original goal of one movie a year has been revised.

The original rumors said the Boba Fett movie would focus on the infamous bounty hunter as well as other bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe.  Instead, Lucasfilm, Ltd. has decided to focus on “The Mandalorian.”  This will be a series available on the new streaming service, produced by Jon Favreau.  The series will take place between 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” and 2015’s “The Force Awakens.”  Favreau released this image, and more, on his Instagram page and Star Wars fans are getting excited about the possibilities offered by television.

Boba Fett Movie is Officially Dead

Boba Fett still has his own following in the Star Wars community.  While Jeremy Bulloch, the man behind the helmet, recently announced that he would no longer be travelling the world to meet fans, there are still a few actors out there that have donned the armor that are available to meet fans.  Boba Fett is also popular in the Star Wars costuming community, so it is still possible to at least get a picture with your favorite bounty hunter from a galaxy far, far away.
