Bob Iger Townhall Meeting Highlights

Bob Iger just hosted a Townhall Meeting with Cast Members from the Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank California. Just before the meeting, Bob tweeted how he is filled with Gratitude and Excitement to be Back at Disney

During the meeting, he talked about many hot-topic issues the Company is facing and even opened the floor to direct questions from Cast Members.

Here is a highlight of some of the things he talked about during the Townhall Meeting for Disney Cast Members:

Planned Hiring Freeze

Bob has no plans to stop the hiring freeze set in place by Bob Chapek. At the time it was reported that “Hiring for the small subset of the most critical, business-driving positions will continue, but all other roles are on hold. Your segment leaders and HR teams have more specific details on how this will apply to your teams.”

Iger said he would uphold Chapek’s hiring freeze for the time being. He also said Disney’s streaming businesses — which include Disney+ and Hulu — should look toward profitability instead of chasing subscriber growth

Inclusion

During the town hall meeting Q&A Session, one Cast Member asked Iger where he stood on the company’s stance on LGBTQ+ inclusion. Without hesitation, Iger said, “One of the core values of our storytelling is inclusion, acceptance, and tolerance.  And we can’t lose that, we just can’t lose that.”

Lake Nona Relocation

As previously announced, the relocation of Walt Disney Imagineering to Lake Nona, Florida, has been delayed until 2026. Iger stated that he has not made a decision and will look into the potential ramifications of relocating to Florida versus staying in California.

Apple Takeover of the Walt Disney Company

There have been talks about Apple taking over the Walt Disney Company for years. Bob Iger said that talk of Apple buying The Walt Disney Company is “nothing more than speculation.”

Park Pass Reservation System

Many fans are quite upset over Disney’s Park Pass Reservation System during the town hall meeting the Park Pass Reservation was brought up and Iger said that he would be discussing the reservation system with Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.

He went on to say that he has not personally used the reservation system since its inception back in 2020 but has heard good things and bad things about it.

Overall the Bob Iger Townhall Meeting was well received on Social Media by Cast Members and Fans. What do you think? Are there any issues you wish he would have covered?
