Bob Iger Talks About Retirement and Delivers the Weather Report at Local ABC Station

Bob Iger Talks About Retirement and Delivers the Weather Report at Local ABC Station. Disney Chairman and Former CEO Bob Iger will be formally retiring from The Walt Disney Company at the end of December and as a part of his farewell to the company, Iger appeared on the local ABC7 news station in LA to share about his plans for retirement and made an impromptu weather report to honor the early days of his career as a weatherman.

Iger joined ABC7 LA newscasters Leslie Lopez and Amy Powell during their morning show to discuss his retirement plans and asked the former CEO if there was anything he would change from his 47-year run with The Walt Disney Company. Iger shared with the team, “I’m often asked: Would I change anything? The answer’s no, it worked out just fine. I’ve had just a great experience over 47 years with ABC and Disney. I’ve loved what I’ve done, every day that I’ve come to work I’ve been happy. I’m privileged to have had the opportunity to run this great company.”

Bob continued that he is “looking forward to what comes next, although I’m not 100% sure what that is. But I haven’t had a day off since 8th grade.”

When asked if he is considering writing another book after the success of his memoir The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Iger shared, “I am. I’m thinking about it,” teasing, “Right now, it feels like a gigantic homework assignment, but yes, I’ve been fascinated by how leaders led through the global pandemic, leading through a crisis,” hinting about his next book topic for readers.

After discussing his lack of interest in joining other CEOs on their trips to outer space and reflecting on his time with the company, co-host Leslie Lopez asked Iger if he would join her for the weather report to honor his time as a weatherman. Iger hesitantly agreed but did a fantastic job sharing the local weather and weekly forcast for Southern California.
