Disney CEO Bob Iger shared a lot of news during the company’s quarterly earnings call today. He shared that Disney is considering theme park expansion opportunities. The company is “closely evaluating” growth and expansion for the parks.

Disney has previously shared possible expansion plans at both Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks at Walt Disney World. Expansion is currently ongoing at Epcot, Disneyland Paris, Shanghai and Hong Kong Disneyland.
Iger said, “We have a number of other growth and expansion opportunities at our parks and we are closely evaluating where it makes the most sense to direct future investments.”
Some of the possible expansions coming to Magic Kingdom include “Coco,” “Encanto,” and Disney Villains. Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom could also be replaced with a “Moana” or “Zootopia” land.
On the other coast, Disneyland has pitched ideas for its long-term expansion to Orange County as part of its DisneylandForward initiative. Possible projects are based on “Frozen,” “Tangled,” “Peter Pan,” “Zootopia,” “Toy Story,” and “Tron.” An “Avatar” experience has also been announced for Disneyland, though we aren’t sure exactly what that will look like.
Iger also mentioned less literal expansions in terms of Annual Passholder benefits.
We are excited to see what expansions might happen at the Disney parks over the coming years. You can see the full second quarter earnings report from today here.
