Yesterday Disney shared its third quarter earnings report. In the report, Disney provided updates for its theme parks and resorts. Overall the parks have been profitable this last quarter and part of that could be due to the capacity and attendance levels.

Earlier this year Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared that Walt Disney World’s capacity was increasing and would continue to rise over the next several months. He didn’t share exact numbers, however. During the call yesterday, Christine McCarthy, Senior Executive Vice President and Disney CFO, indicated that during the third quarter “attendance levels were at or near daily capacity levels which increased throughout the quarter.”

Chapek also shared that about 70% of the hotel rooms at Disney World have been reopened. More hotels will be reopening over the next few months and all hotels at Walt Disney World will be open by the end of the year. McCarthy said they also expect the parks to be fully staffed by the end of 2021 and Disney will be increasing capacity as the demand increases.
Over at Disneyland capacity and attendance have also increased since the parks reopened in April. The parks on the west coast saw a larger increase when California lifted state restrictions on June 15.
Guests visiting the Disney parks have also noticed the increase in capacity as parks have become more crowded and ride wait times have gotten longer.
