Big news for Disneyland Annual Pass Holders

Big News for Disneyland Annual Pass Holders.  The popular Southern California AP option is GONE.  Disneyland which has just raised its AP Ticket prices today, has eliminated the West Coast’s favorite pass.  The So. Cal AP which gave guests the option of 215 days to visit including Sundays with block outs during the busy summer and holiday months was priced at $379.   This popular pass is rumored to have been the number 1 seller, allowing for So. California Residents to visit the parks on a regular basis.    For a family of 4 – the $1500+ per year was a big investment.  Now with the choices limited to So. Cal Select (which is not ideal for older kids  in school and working parents) or Deluxe, the changes will cause a huge uproar in the Disneyland AP community.    The $519 price tag on the Deluxe would result in an annual cost of almost $2,100 for a family of 4.   A $600 increase that could be better spent on meals and souvenirs for most will simply just no longer be affordable.    With over 1 million APs in Southern California, there have been rumors for months about the changes, unfortunately, getting rid of So Cal AP option will result in negative publicity and lose of revenue for Disneyland.

I personally have 7 So. Cal APs in my family.  We visit weekly and spend an average of $100+ per visit not including parking and AP costs.  With the elimination of the So. Cal AP, my family will now be forced to visit once or twice per year.    Our budget of $8,000 – $10,000 yearly spending will now go down to around $1,500-2,000.  Multiply that times over 1/2 million or more So. Cal APs and Disneyland will be losing a big chunk of change.  Most of all Disneyland will lose the AP loyalty.  Without affordable APs, So Cal Residents will fill their weekends with visits to other area parks.

The current AP options still available are:  So Cal Select with 170 days of park visits during the week is priced at $289.00.  For $519 you can purchase the Deluxe AP with 315 days of park visits including weekends and summer and most holidays.   And finally the Premium for $699 allows APs to visit the parks all 365 days of the year.

UPDATED INFORMATION:

I have some wonderful Disneyland Annual Pass Updates.   Earlier, I shared the sad news about the end of the So. California Annual Pass.  This popular pass valued at $379 was rumored to be the favorite purchased by over 1/2 to 3/4 of California residents.    While this morning’s Cast Member assured me over and over, we could no longer purchase this AP, I have just been informed that current guests who possess a Southern California Annual Pass and wish to renew their pass will still have the opportunity to do so at the current price of $379 with a $20 discount for early renewal.   This news may or may not be a result of the non stop phone calls by upset and discouraged APs who would not be able to continue their status and visit the Disneyland Parks on a regular basis.

The dark cloud that was covering my household has been lifted and we are now celebrating our continued membership as APs.   Thank you Disneyland for listening and acknowledging our loyalty.   See ya real soon!

  1. Just once, I wish the SoCal AP holders would think about those of us who travel 1000+ miles for a Disneyland trip every 3 years, paying more for 4 days in the park than you do for the entire year, and we are sick of the local crowds. We too are taking our vacation dollars elsewhere because DL is overrun with locals and their weekly visits. I wish they would get rid of al the SoCal passes.

  2. Is this true for all SCAP’s or just the ones that expire within 90 days of the change? I was told by a cast member it was only for those that the pass expires within 90 days of the May 18th date… Please clarify if possible. Thank you!
