The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival offers up hundreds of great bites to sample around the World Showcase.  So how to pick a best drink & and a best bite in the face of so many options?  The answer is by bringing plenty of friends and by sampling as much as possible.

The best drink was, by far, the easiest choice for my group of 5.  We all prefer frozen drinks over wine and beer.  On the day of our visit the weather was 92 degrees and we were looking for a cold and refreshing drink.  The Tiki Torch, at the Joffrey’s Kiosk, was the perfect combination of sweet and tart flavors in a frozen slushy drink.  It is also one of the Passport Specialty Beverages.  The Grey Goose Vodka kept the drink light and the crushed ice ensured the drink stayed cold for some time.

Since it would be impossible to choose only one favorite, here is the breakdown by course.  The winner of the best bite bread category is the Pao de Queijo from Brazil.  The bread was warm with a crispy outer layer.   As you bite into the bread, the melted cheese in the middle added a wonderful flavor to the softer, lighter bread in the middle.  You get two rolls, making this a perfectly sharable bread choice.

I have to rate the  Spicy Hummus Fries, from Morocco, as the most unusual, and flavorful in the best bite appetizer category.  The spicy flavor of the hummus and Tzatziki Sauce, combined with the cooling essence of the cucumber and tomato, makes for a well-balanced appetizer.

Hands-down, the best bite entrée is the Lamb Meatball from New Zealand.  The lamb flavor is not too strong, and combined with the spicy tomato chutney, in the little sweet bread bowl, this is truly a meal for all the senses.  When you bite into this delectable entrée, the flavors will cause your taste palate to experience a plethora of flavors all at once.  The presentation is appealing to the eye, while the smell, and texture, of the flavor combinations will make your mouth water.

A meal is truly special when you add cheese.  The winner of the cheese bite course is the Trio of Artisan Cheeses from The Wine & Dine Studio.  Each cheese is paired with a perfect accompaniment to enhance the flavors and assist you in becoming a true cheese connoisseur.

What meal can be called complete without dessert?  My favorite dessert bite choice takes us full-circle to America with its Freshly Baked Carrot Cake.  The cake is extremely moist and the cream cheese icing adds just the right amount of sweetness to make this a classic flavor.

There you have it!  While my party of 5 did not agree 100% on all of the choices, each of the items listed were voted in by 3 or 4 of us in the group.  The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival’s Taste Your Way Around the World is so much fun.  Gather up your family and friends and head on over to Epcot to pick your personal favorites.  Just be prepared for a flavor explosion, and arrive hungry as the choices are plentiful.
