The Sorcerer Supreme is conjuring up his next project over at Netflix. According to Variety, Benedict Cumberbatch is in talks with Netflix for a new limited series, “Eric.” This limited series was initially announced by Netflix in November 2021.

Cumberbatch could play the role of Vincent Sullivan in this six-episode limited series. Set in 1980’s New York City, ‘Eric’ follows the life of a puppeteer and children’s show host whose life begins to unravel following his son’s disappearance. Homeless and dealing with addiction, Vincent finds companionship in a blue puppet named Eric, who leads him on a journey to find his son.

Eric is written and executive produced by The Hour‘s Abi Morgan.  The End of the F***ing World‘s Lucy Forbes is set to direct.

Netflix declined to comment when asked to confirm casting rumors for the upcoming show. Cumberbatch is no stranger to the small screen, having played several limited series roles throughout his career. The English actor is well known for his roles in film, television, and theater.
