Behind the Scenes Look at the Making of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Marquee

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Marquee

We shared earlier this week about the successful installation of the neon marquee for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! We are now less than a month away from the grand opening and the progress is unbelievable. Now we have a behind the scenes look at the making of this iconic marquee.

“One of the great details about this sign…the inspiration from it came from the original Chinese Theater, so all of the elements were taken from previous signs that had existed on the building exterior,” said Brittany Gacsy, Graphic Fabrication Designer Sr, Walt Disney Imagineering.

The marquee, consisting of hand-crafted neon and built by thousands of design fabricators, has been through a very long process before getting to the classic look that it is now.

The success of this marquee only reminds us that we will soon be able to board Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and head into the cartoon craziness they are inviting us to! March 4…please come sooner!

  1. Mr. Stuckey, I totally agree. I haven’t liked these new versions of any of the characters. I don’t care for the style at all, and won’t buy any merchandise that uses them.
