Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming new, live action film Beauty and the Beast has found the perfect Cogsworth. Sir IanMcKellen, well know in theatre and film and recognized most recently for his roles as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as well as Magneto in the X-Men films, will play the funny and loyal butler to the Beast. Starring along side Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad and Emma Thompson, Sir Ian McKellen’s portrayal of the butler transformed into a clock is destined to make the character an instant favorite . Beauty and the Beast includes the talents of Bill Condon who is directing and David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing, with production starting later this year for a theatre release set for March 17, 2017.
Disney’s latest venture into the remaking of classics into live action films includes upcoming titles “Mulan,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “Dumbo,” “Pinocchio,” “The Jungle Book” and “Pete’s Dragon.” If the success of Cinderella is any indication, we are in for some incredible movies from our favorite studio.
